  9. What’s the big deal about organic cotton? What is GOTS?
Over the last two decades there has been a rise in organic products. Why might organic clothing be better for your baby?  We know that organic cotton does not contain chemicals and pesticides known for triggering allergic reactions in your baby’s sensitive skin. Babies rapidly developing bodies have immature immune systems that make them especially susceptible to chemical residues.

All products sold at Ogobobo are GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified products. Why is this important? GOTS certified products are the gold standard for the production of organic cotton and wool. While many clothing manufacturers claim their products are made from organic cotton, GOTS certification demands manufacturers’ meet strict environmental criteria along the entire supply chain from farm to factory.

Learn more about GOTS by watching this simple video:

GOTS aims to define internationally recognized requirements that ensure organic status of textiles, from growth and harvest of the raw materials, through environmentally and socially responsible spinning, weaving, dyeing, cutting, sewing, packaging and labelling in order to provide a credible assurance to the end consumer.

By buying GOTS organic clothing you help strengthen socially and environmentally responsible companies. What a great way of supporting a cleaner and safer way to make clothes.
